Bastide du Claux Luberon "Le Claux" 2014
“Le Claux” is a 2.25-ha vineyard situated at approx 350 meters of altitude. Its soils of clay marl and its northeastern exposure contribute to a long maturation cycle, engendering a wine of great complexity. Naturally fermented and aged for two years, primarily in used-600L demi-muids, “Le Claux” is a blend of 60% Syrah (planted 1973), 30% Grenache (1962) and 10% Mourvèdre (1949). Densely concentrated and layered on the palate with notable black fruit flavours, its tannins have teeth followed by a levity on the long finish that epitomises Sylvain Morey's winemaking skills and Burgundian pedigree. Santé!
