Dom. Sylvain Morey Santenay 1er Cru “Grand Clos Rousseau” Pinot Noir 2021

Domaine Sylvain Morey’s Grand Clos Rousseau is a deeply expressive Pinot Noir from a 1er Cru parcel in Santenay, planted in clay-limestone soils at 260–280 m altitude.

The grapes are partly vinified whole-cluster (around 70 %) and undergo spontaneous fermentation, followed by 18 months’ élevage in large 350 L demi-muids, with approximately 20% new oak.

On the nose, you’ll find red berries—strawberry and raspberry—layered with hints of violet, turned earth, and gentle spice. The palate is well-structured yet vibrant with fine, supple tannins, a bright mineral thread and persistent, saline-tinged finish. 

This wine balances power and elegance beautifully, offering both purity and depth. It’s already approachable but has the potential to develop further complexity over the next 10–15 years. Food-wise, it pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, mushroom dishes and grilled meats.
