Domaine de Fenouillet Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise 2013 (500ml)

The picturesque southern Rhône village of Beaumes-de-Venise produces deliciously sweet, fortified muscat - it is France's best-known Vin Doux Naturel.  Organically grown, each grape is individually hand-picked.  Several passes are made over the course of a week to optimise the maturity of sugars and acid in the fruit.  Cold fermentation preserves aromatics and precisely hones balance before the must is left on lees for three months prior to bottling.  The result is a honied, fresh, textured wine with honeysuckle, nectarine, orange peel and apple juice notes.  A perfect accompaniment to cheese, tarts and fruit puddings.  Alternatively, drink it as an aperitif!
